I'm so glad to have found a community of people who are opting out and still doing an amazing job at parenting! Opting out of breastfeeding still feels completely wild and revolutionary every time I read or think those words- but it was one of the best choices I made (thanks therapy for helping me accept this!)

My 3 yo just brought Daniel Tiger back into my life, he had always liked the books but about a month ago decided he likes the show again (my 6 yo hasn’t watched it much since he was about 2 but loves Wild Kratts so they see both on the PBS Kids app). I followed the account of the woman obsessed with frame rate for about 2 days when she wrote the dramatic post about cocomelon and then moved on with my life! My kids can be dysregulated by screens and can be dysregulated by family dinners with cousins- it doesn’t mean I am going to cancel every family event bc they need to have a quiet moment alone to deal with a overstimulation!

Um...I went to film school so I actually do know what frame rates are, and believe me when I say this actually makes less than zero sense. It makes NEGATIVE SENSE.

Frame rates?! FOR FUCK'S SAKE. I'm glad I opted out of ALL the shit that I did. And I let my daughter watch all sorts of stuff that people would throw their hands up in horror at today (she could sing all the songs from "Little Shop of Horrors" from memory at age 3--it was her favorite movie!), yet she turned out all right.

I feel like this might have to do with a fear of subliminal messaging? Or maybe overstimulation? Either way, people are so hung up on the weird minutiae of their kids lives bc they seem controllable and don't want to face the reality that there are many more, very blatant problems and random things that can happen which you cannot protect your kids or yourself from.
