It’s the first week of my big kids being done with school (the 4YO has been done for almost three weeks), and the grand shuffle of summer childcare has begun. The big kids are signed up for a flurry of camps, and I found a couple weeks of preschool summer camp for the little guy, but both Brett and I are doing significantly more regular childcare than we do during the school year.
Despite a serious diminishment of work hours, I’m finding myself not minding 1 carting my youngest to the library or the pool or the park, maybe partially because my brain needs a break from book promotion and intensive intellectual energy expenditure, and maybe partially because I’m (dare I say) enjoying childcare paired with summer? And maybe ALSO because spending time outside in New England summertime is what New Englanders dream about for the rest of the year?
