Congrats on getting a paperback!! That's not a guarantee in this market so it's a huge deal and you should be really proud. I loved getting to do an event with you last year (last minute and all!) and it's so cool to see the career you've built.
Happy bday to your book baby and book-BIRTHING day to you (although is our pub day the birth day or the day we turn in our first complete MS?...hmm) Maybe pub day is more like graduation day? IDK. What I do know is YOU ARE AMAZING and a huge inspiration to so many writers.
I loved this - thank you so much for sharing it - I had no idea you'd been on such a journey with proposals and rejections! As someone who once had an agent and had a proposal die on submission this is encouraging, but thanks also for sharing the realities of the highs and lows of the after-the-book-deal part! And congratuations on the paperback! x
Your honesty about this whole process has been brutal to read but also totally refreshing and ultimately incredibly helpful. Thanks for putting it all out there and congrats on the paperback and the anniversary! 👏🎉💃
Congrats on the paperback! This list is so great; it's honest, validating, and brought several chuckles. Thanks for this account of your writing journey, Sara!
I (finally) read Momfluenced. I was continually surprised how much there is to say on the topic of momfluencers and how much more there could be. You really brought so many things together in a ways I hadn’t thought deeply about before. I plan to read on using the recommendations at the back.
Also you may be the only other person I “know” who has said they decided to have a kid because they weren’t sure what else to do and it was expected of them. Not your exact quote but thats the gist of how I remember it, I personally say “I was bored and not using my time well so I thought why not now?” if I’m giving a surface level explanation. Anyway, thank you for including honest and vulnerable details about your own experience in the book. I read a few things that I related to that I haven’t read anywhere else.
Loved reading this list and big congrats to you. Your writing HAS changed the way I think and feel about being a mom, for sure, and I only wish I’d read it when my kid was young and life as a parent was different than it is now that he’s off on his own. Thanks for sharing all the steps you went through. Books take it all, don’t they. I have one publishing tomorrow. I think I’ll go out in the garden and weed now!!

aw THANK YOU Frankie and you're totally right - I don't take it for granted!
Thank you for making this fumbling author-to-be feel better about all the missteps and rejections along the way
SOOOOO many missteps and rejections!
This piece is GOLD for anyone thinking about writing a book. And wildly cathartic for those of us who have struggled through!
Happy paperback week, doll! You've really been on a journey - love the transparency.
Also realized I never bought the book somehow? Moseying over to buy it now!
THANK YOU!
