I'm just here to ask why any adult woman would willing buy a pair of jeans called Mom Jeans. I understand a brand for the Youths calling a style 'Mom' (I know Topshop had one a few years ago) because the Youth can get away with it. But I cannot imagine a friend saying "I like your jeans" and having to say "Thanks! They are called Mom Jeans!"
*Insert the gif of the SNL skit for Mom Jeans "when you've given up! Knit vest gift with purchase"*
Especially when something like 20% of adult women are not mothers and never will be (and that number is growing). The ones who chose that life will likely not be happy to have the "Mom" label slapped on their jeans; the ones who wanted to be mothers and couldn't (for whatever reasons -- and that includes me!) don't need that reminder of what they wanted and didn't get. 20% and growing is a big chunk of your market, jean manufacturers...
To be totally honest, the whole brand looks like a scam 😂 stock photos on a website to sell jeans to literally anyone who will buy them that come in at about 20% the quality they were advertising.
This article and all the commentary was so good 🤌🏻💯 The man behind the jeans is just… really I don’t have words.
I purchased a backpack/purse situation from an ad some years ago (like around the time ads really started ramping up) and it arrived as a complete piece of junk. Smaller than expected, not at all leather as advertised, and literally just a bag in a poly bag, no branding on a card or a receipt or anything.
So many branding scams, not enough time. It makes me laugh at the absurdity and then makes me rage scream (especially as a brand messaging professional) at the fact that this type of shit without integrity just gets to happen and take advantage of others.
Let’s please follow up in 12 weeks to see if this does still in fact exist!
Yes! I think so many of these are just drop-shipping scams, where some random person buys a bunch of stock from Temu or something and then sell it at a huge markup.
Hilarious! You hit on what I was thinking about a similar website recently, but funnier ("wtf no" is as far as I got). I'm with the adult women who refuse to buy Mom jeans. I am the Mom, and Mom wants the Christopher Robin Sara jeans. Not another ceramic mug.
Can we also talk about scam brands? I’m so tired of trying to figure out if this cute dress for my kindergartner I see on this ad is from an actual company or if it’s a bait and switch. Etsy isn’t even safe anymore. There’s so many scams on there I don’t bother anymore.
Okay, but the words on the first ad are barely describing the pants pictured. Except maybe the straight leg part. AI all up and down the place. That man does NOT exist (Have not checked, don't care). Fun post tho, thank you!
So all of this is true and ridiculous and yet… how many people do you know are actually confident in their fashion style? I expect most people do have some pieces from everlane, outfitters, express and maybe even chicos. Especially if we count things they bought years ago and still like or hang on to. So if we set aside the ultra thin influencer models (which we shouldn’t), maybe this company is just leaning into the person who has no idea what jeans they want or look good in, which is likely most average people? Just chiming in to say that while marketing strategies are meant to be coherent, people’s fashion purchases are definitely not, which might be why this brand survives, if it does.
This all feels related to that YouTube video about clothing scams: https://youtu.be/MqyJZsGFZ3M?feature=shared Gives me that "what is even real anymore?" feeling... Do these jeans even exist? Was all of the copy written by chatgpt? (probably)
Thank you for that link! Just watched…..uuuuuuuugh. I really hate not knowing what to trust (although I guess it’s not super hard to tell the obvious scams). What am I going to have to do, go back to shopping in person?! 😱 I guess so 🤷🏼♀️
https://holyclothing.com is the link. I’m familiar with this brand because it fits the fantasy me in my head that can wear long floaty dresses without closing them in doors or running over them with my office chair. Probably the renaissance witch version of your calico-clad wildflower fairy.

GREAT POINT

It’s a total scam. You can also only return items for store credit.
NO
Then I guess their branding is spot on 😂😂
The only question left is… where do I find those Christopher Robin Mom jeans in that Instagram ad??? I want….
right?!

If I could insert a Christopher Robin emoji here, I WOULD

AGH I didn't know that re: Etsy!!!!
So many knockoffs and stolen designs. It’s so frustrating
sucks. i like to think of etsy as pure! (i know i know)
I clicked on that same IG ad and felt - SO confused.
This was so, so funny! Thank you.
Thank YOU Jackie!
Did someone ask AI to invent a new jeans brand? I'm gettin those old-lady-invents-bra ads, which are totally made-up (the bras and the ads).
Okay, but the words on the first ad are barely describing the pants pictured. Except maybe the straight leg part. AI all up and down the place. That man does NOT exist (Have not checked, don't care). Fun post tho, thank you!
Thank you! 🤩
these look like jeans made by AI
the copy is SO BAD
THIS.
There's a medicine ad on television that says one of the side effects is "bad taste."
wait wait wait as in the medicine tastes bad? lol
I think so, but who knows? Maybe it means the person taking the meds suddenly has poor fashion sense or gauche home decorations.
Oh no, maybe I took that medicine 🤦🏼♀️😂

No that's a great point! I (of course!) own items from all sorts of brands whose aesthetic stories don't line up.

the horrors!
Magical thinking dependent algorithm: sending me “holy clothing” ads. I cannot even begin to fathom who would wear these but sure as shit isn’t me.
wait wait wait is this the name of the brand? or a type of clothing? drop a link i beg you.
A brand. I get fed these ads on fb all the time. Let me see if I can find their website.
